1000 Benefit From Army Free Medical Services In Enugu

No fewer than one thousand people benefited from a free medical outreach
organised by the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army,
Enugu at the weekend in Uboji Community, Ngwo.
The participants at the event which is part of activities marking the 2017 Army Day Celebration
were offered free medical services in dental, laboratory, optometry areas,
among others and were offered free medicines and drugs
by a special team from the Medical Services and Hospital of the 82 Division, Enugu.

Children of different ages were also de-wormed during the annual medical ritual of the Army
which took place at Oluama Primary School, Ngwo Uno in Enugu North Local Government of Enugu State.
Speaking at the occasion which lasted for several hours, the General Officer Commanding
the 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Adamu Abubakar
explained that the exercise was part of their social responsibility.
While advising residents to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the free medical outreach,
he averred that the exercise was organised to ensure the well being of people of the community.

The GOC, who described High Blood Pressure as a silent killer in the country,
advised participants at the occasion to ensure that they checked their BP status,
adding many people may not know that they have high Blood Pressure until a check is carried out.
Also speaking, the Commander, Medical Services and Hospital, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu,
Lieutenant Colonel Ijomanta Nwosu expressed happiness that the exercise was going on smoothly.
He said though they initially planned for about 500 people, the number exceeded,
and reinstated that he was happy the event was going on well.
Many of the participants who spoke to journalists showered encomiums on the army
for offering them free medical services, adding most of the people who
benefited from the programme could not afford the services rendered to them by the army.
